Introducing: The Akashayin Self Care Experience

Updated: Oct 16

A soul-sister, Megan and I have collaborated to create Akashayin Self Care experiences. This is something we are deeply passionate about. We have had huge amounts of success so far and we want to keep the momentum going. We have piqued people's curiosity about these events so I we are here to give a lay of the land.

Akashayin is our collaborative branding for the self care experience (and products to come). These events are held in-person and designed for YOU to be able to take care of yourself. A time to give back to your mind and body. The experience is a blend of guided, releasing, meditation into the Akashic Field (more on this in a moment) and gentle, restorative Yin Yoga (more on this too). The room is heated and comfortable. Throughout the class my co-host and I guide you through the mediation and gentle movements. As you practice, we move from each person offer hands on reiki infused touch. This touch deepens your practice and offers immediate relaxation. The 120 minute class wraps up with a closing mediation and a cool, essential oil infused towel laid on your forehead. As you are arriving back into the room we invite you to take a few moments to journal any relevant insights, take a look at your personalized message card as we hand out a grounding herbal tea to send you on your way home.

Oh - and this is a very personal and restorative practice. Absolutely no experience is necessary. We take you through it all.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is primarily practiced laying on your mat and works deeply into your body with passive, longer-held poses. Positions are held longer to target the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues, ligaments, joints, bones, and and the energy meridians of the body. In these deep tissues we can store old emotions and stress. This practice is focused on deep relaxation and the release of old energy. This is contrast to a traditional ideas of yoga practices which often target muscle strength, stability and balance. We are not focused on this in yin. Yin is all about relaxation and releasing.

Our Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer, with recovery/rebound nourishing poses in between.

Energetically, Yin yoga improves the energy flow, enhancing the flow of chi (life force, healing energy) to the organs. Clearly there are also wonderful emotional and mental benefits too. This practice can shift the body into the parasympathetic nervous system of rest and digest. We live in a hectic world and many of us operate in our stress response system more often than not. This can really take a toll on our adrenals and overall hormones!

Benefits of a regular yin practice:

  • Increases circulation and improves flexibility

  • Calms and balances the mind and body

  • Reduces stress and anxiety

  • Releases fascia

  • Encourages deeper relaxation

  • Improves joint mobility

  • Brings balance to the organs through meridian stimulation

  • Release of stored emotions and stress

Akashic Meditation

The Akashic Field is an age old energetic realm of healing and release. The term "Akash" or "Akasha" translates from the Hindi language to "sky." The Akashic Field is represented often described as a "higher plane" that exists outside the dense physical earthy world.

This is where the "Soul" or "Spirit" reside (cue the term "Higher Self").

The guided meditation varies each time, but the general premise is to tap into our soul-space. To remember the magic and wonders of our soul-selves and release any of the dense, challenging earthy struggles that hinder our greatest expression and freedom.

There is no experience required with meditation and you cannot do it "wrong." The class starts out with a guided relaxation exercise. This gentle meditation will help get you into a theta-brainwave state. This state is known for deep relaxation and rest. It helps us move away from our busy conscious mind and tap into the subconscious. Where all our limiting beliefs are stored. The goal of the mediation is to begin to release some of these limiting beliefs and set new, more aligned beliefs into place.

We offer some visual/imagination prompts to follow along. The only thing you will be asked is to think of what you would like to release and will it to be so.

Benefits of meditation:

  • Gaining a new perspective on stressful situations

  • Clears information overload

  • Decreases stress

  • Increases creative solutions

  • Building skills to manage your stress

  • Increasing self-awareness

  • Focusing on the present

  • Reducing negative emotions

  • Increasing imagination and creativity

  • Increasing patience and tolerance

  • Lowering resting heart rate

  • Lowering resting blood pressure

  • Improving sleep quality

  • Aids in digestion

As class winds up, and we guide you back into the room you are invited to take time to journal, read and review your message card - which is yours to keep if you desire to. A token and reminder of the powerful and intentional time you took for yourself.

To assist in your grounding back into your body and physical reality we then offer a cup of herbal tea. When you feel your experience is complete then you are welcome to head on to the rest of your evening.

These sessions are currently being held monthly in Prince Albert, SK Canada. Open to all ages, genders and abilities.

Take a look at our schedule. We would love to have you.
